Chicago, IL – In controversial move authorities at the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) announced a long term initiative to rename the system. The CTA is an independent governmental agency created by state legislation that operates the nation’s second largest public transportation system. On an average weekday, 1.7 million people ride the CTA. Officials said
“The current name is boring and offers riders little to identify and connect with.”
There has been a severe push back from the community that says the proposed new name “Ugly Person Express” is degrading and embarrassing to patrons of the system.
“Are you kidding me? Nobody wants to walk around with a monthly pass for the “Ugly Person Express” it’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard”
The announcement has also driven away long term contracts for marketing and advertising which have long been a key component and revenue stream for the organization. The public relations team handling the new name proposal has been overwhelmed with the public’s outcry and disgust over the matter.
